About the Gallery
In the heart of Rome, a legendary space is preparing for a new chapter. Once home to Big Mama Jazz Club, a historic landmark in Rome’s vibrant music scene, this iconic venue will soon become House of Lucie Rome, a new center for photography, art, and creative exchange. Honoring the building’s rich musical heritage, the gallery will open with an extraordinary exhibition of portraits of the greatest jazz masters, celebrating the artists who shaped the history of jazz. Beyond its exhibition program, House of Lucie Rome will feature a professional digital printing studio and a traditional photographic darkroom, offering hands-on workshops in both digital and analog photography. The space will also host artist talks, book signings, educational programs, and an annual open call for photographers. Bringing together the traditions of photography and the possibilities of new technology, House of Lucie Rome aims to become a vibrant meeting place for photographers, artists, students, and photography enthusiasts from around the world.
