Babak Zirak

Babak Zirak is an Iranian photographer, architect and researcher, born in Hamadan. As an architect he specialises in climate-based and rural architecture; as a photographer he has been drawn since his youth to people, places and the poetry of everyday life, inspired by Henri Cartier-Bresson, André Kertész and Sebastião Salgado.

Over six decades and in more than thirty countries, Zirak has photographed brides, capturing fleeting moments of beauty and emotion where the sacred meets the everyday. His series Brides explores how this universal symbol of purity, hope and unity connects people across cultures.

Brides was shown at House of Lucie Budapest in 2025, curated by Hassan and Hossein Rowshanbakht.
