Somy Samani

Somy Samani is an Iranian photographer known for her staged self-portraits. With a master's degree in graphic design and many years of experience in photography and fashion, she brings together her skills as photographer, make-up artist and stylist to create surreal, quietly melancholic images that explore femininity and identity.

Inspired by pioneering women photographers and convinced of photography's power to bring about change, her work challenges norms and has reached a worldwide audience, including collectors of her digital works. She is a winner at the PX3 Prix de la Photographie Paris (Silver in 2023, Gold in 2024) and has received awards at the Tokyo and Budapest International Foto Awards.

Her exhibition ME SOMY at House of Lucie Budapest invited visitors on a journey through femininity and identity.
