Jeff Dunas

Jeff Dunas is an American photographer whose work spans portraiture, documentary and fine art photography. After living in Paris for many years, he returned to the United States and saw his native country with new eyes.

American Pictures, his long-term project, spans thirty-five years of travel through the middle and southern regions of the United States and towns along the Canadian border. With a gentle, documentary approach and no political agenda, it celebrates the whimsical individualism of Americans and the everyday details of life that are often overlooked: identity, self-expression, culture and the passage of time.

Dunas is also known for his photographs of blues musicians and as the founder of the Palm Springs Photo Festival. American Pictures was shown at House of Lucie Budapest in 2025.
